Besides playing an important role in displays,Liquid crystal (LC) materials have also been found a variety of applications in photonics due to its electrically tunable behavior.Generally,the response time of conventional LC devices are limited within microsecond scale.To improve the response property of LC devices,polymer dispersed liquid crystals (PDLCs) and Holographic PDLCs have been developed,which can achieve the sub-microsecond switchable time.The high switchable voltage of PDLCs and H-PDLCs and relative large scattering,however,prevents the wide-ranging applications.Recently,the polymer liquid crystal polymer slices (POLICRYPS) has been reported,which composed by the alternative LC slices and polymer slices.POLICRYPS devices can achieved higher diffraction efficiency with low scattering loss and power consumption due to the completely phase separation.
