Both capillary electrophoresis(CE) and Ru(bpy)32+ electrochemiluminescence(ECL) are important and powerful trace analytical techniques for separation and detection.The combination of these two techniques makes an instrument called capillary electrophoresis(CE)/electrochemiluminescence(ECL) i.e.CE-ECL analyzer developed in our laboratory being as a commercial product.It contains different units of capillary electrophoresis, voltammetric analyzer, chemiluminescence and electrochemiluminescence which can be used separately and/or combined together as a hyphenated instrument with a chip-type Ru(bpy)32+ ECL detection cell for capillary electrophoresis and flow injection analysis and microchip capillary electrophoresis with solid state electrochemiluminescence.etc.This technique and its recent applications for pharmaceutical and clinical analysis; the detection for chiral separation of racemic drug; a strategy by using nanoparticles and room temperature ionic liquid in ECL; new developed Ru(bpy)32+ derivative reagent for extending practical scopes will be reported.
