A retrospective analysis of 170 patients with a diagnosis of paraquat poisoning is to clarify whether the arterial lactate-time (arterial lactate concentration time between ingestion and arterial lactate were measured) is a good predictor of mortality in patients with acute paraquat poisoning. Our study showed that there has a positive correlation between the arterial lactate-time and PQ concentrations-time (R =0.485).The arterial lactatetime date had a similar discriminative power to the plasma paraquat concentration time data (z =0.712, P =0.864).For the ROC curve analy10:41 2015-6-17sis, the lactate-time date had an arca of 0.782 and the cut off was 11.95 mmol/ L.h (sensitivity 64.52%, specificity 84.42%).To calculate a predicted probability of survival for any specified time and initial arterial lactate concentration, a formula was derived based on the logistic regression coefficients : logit (p) =3.066-0.139 (Time lag after PQ ingestion)-0.177 (initial arterial lactate).Probability of survivors =1/1 + e-logit(p).It could be concluded that the arterial lactate-time data had a good predictive power in evaluating the prognosis of patients with acute paraquat poisoning.
