Metallic NPs such as Au,Ag and Cu can absorb visible and infrared light in particular regions due to localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR).The surface charge density of such plasmonic NPs is partially localized,and this is increased by charge separation derived from the LSPR effect in the absence of a semiconductor to act as an electron acceptor.
