Fungal infections have a great incidence on public health and public cost.Amongst them, infections caused by the human pathogen Candida species are the most prevalent in hospitals.Due to high levels of current antifungal drug resistance and immense capacities to adhere to many cell types as well as many plastic substrates (as biofilm),the treatment of fungal infections is not always successful. The search for new antifungals is on-going,and has become an accessible research topic for academic research.Compound libraries are now available to fundamental scientific projects and they have opened the promising field of chemical genetics screening to public research.A library of ten thousand new compounds purchased from Chembridge corporation was screened against Candida species and C.albicans mutants. We identified a limited number of compounds that showed high potencies against the fungi.
