Astaxanthin has been shown to have inhibitory effect toward oxidation of low-density lipoprotein in human (Iwamoto et al.2000),preventive effect of diabetic nephropathy in diabetic db/db mice (Naito et al.2004),preventative effects against cancer or anticancer activities (Tanaka et al 1994; Chert et al.1999),and enhancement of immune responses (Jyonouchi ea al.1995; Chen and Park 2004).
