The transient release of in-situ stress on the excavation boundary can induce vibration of surrounding rock during the excavation of deep tunnel by blasting.For the case of circular tunnel, the balance and transition of strain energy, kinetic energy and work done by radical stress during the process of transient release of in-situ stress is analyzed, then method of dimensional analysis is employed to set up an formula to predict the vibration induced by transient release of in-situ stress based on the strain energy of excavated rock mass.
