The potato is the third most important food crop in the world.It is a fundamental element in the food security for millions of people across South America.In Brazil, potato is grown on approximately 140 thousands hectares with an output of approximately 3,5 million tons per year.The aim of this study was select Trichoderma isolates able to break the dormancy of potato seeds and improve plant growth and potato yield.The effect of sixty Trichoderma isolates to stimulate sprouting on potatoes was evaluated after dipping potato seeds in the fungal suspensions and counting the sprout numbers every three days for one month.Subsequently, two experiments were conducted under greenhouse conditions to test the effect of selected isolates on potato seedlings growth.
