The presentation follows the most recent classification of pulmonary hypertension (2008 4th World Symposium on PH, Dana Point, California) and discusses a specific category of pulmonary vasculopathy, pulmonary arterial hypertension.PAH in the adult is defined as a mean pulmonary artery pressure above 25 mmHg with a pulmonary vascular resistance greater than 3 Wood units, in the presence of a normal cardiac index and a normal pulmonary artery wedge pressure.
