Liquid crystal (LC) is a dynamic molecular system with anisotropic orders leading to anisotropic functional properties. The conventional LCs are categorized on their anisotropic shape of molecules to calamitic and discotic LCs for rod-like and disc-like molecules, respectively.Recent studies on the correlation of mesomorphism with molecular anisotropy have shown the wider variety of anisotropy in molecular shape could contribute to the formation of LCs.Furthermore,it has been revealed that photon could induce phase transitions not only between mesophase and isotropic liquid (Iso) phase, but also among a few of mesophases.
