In recent years, the population growth of metropolitan cities in various countries has been rapidly increasing, and problems such as housing shortage, traffic congestion and environmental pollution have emerged one after another, hindering the development of cities. Britain set off a new city construction movement in the 1940s and succeeded in solving the problem of urban development. It also attracted the attention of other countries and followed suit, forming a wave of new city construction. This paper mainly focuses on the construction movement of the new city in the United States, examines the origin of the new city construction idea and its development in the United States, and focuses on the impact of the new town construction ideology on some hot topics in urban planning.
