Two-photon fluorescent probes have several distinct advantages over one-photon ones, such as NIR (near infrared) photons as excitation source, imaging in the black background, avoidance of photodamage and photobleaching.We have designed and synthesized several two-photon fluorescent probes based quinoline or rhodamine skeleton, such as 6-MPQ, 6-MPVQ, APQ, QS and RQ6.These probes have good two-photon properties and exhibit high selectivity and sensitivity for Zn2+, Cd2+ and Fe3+ in living cells.In addition, these probes realized the real-time two-photon imaging of above-mentioned ions in living cells by confocal microscopy.
