Root and rhizosphere research has been conducted intensively, but the underlying strategy of root/rhizosphere processes-based nutrient management with the aims of improving both high yield and efficient nutrient use in intensive cropping systems remain largely to be determined.Root exploration in soil nutrient resources and root-induced rhizosphere processes plays an important role in controlling efficient nutrient acquisition and use, and thus crop productivity.
