Voluminous magmatic intrusions expose along the Nalati range, carrying crucial information about the Paleozoic evolution of the Yili block and Chinese western Tianshan.Previous geochemical and geochronological data from igneous rocks at dispersed locations indicates that the Nalati range had experienced multi-stage subductional, orogenic and post-orogenic magmatism during the Paleozoic. However, the subduction polarity of the related oceanic domain(s),the evolution and termination of the subduction, and the transition from compressional to extensional environment are still obscure.
