Objective To explore the relationship between self-efficacy and quality of life in patients with Wilson’s disease (WD). Methods A total of 215 patients with WD were admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Institute of Neurology, Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2013 to January 2014 with the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) and World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale (WHOQOL-BREF) And matched 190 healthy people (control group) to investigate the self-efficacy and quality of life of WD patients and their correlation. Results The self-efficacy score of WD group was lower than that of control group [(2.344 ± 0.4978) vs (2.611 ± 0.4912) points, the difference was statistically significant (t = 5.407, P <0.05) (76.46 ± 13.20 vs 91.26 ± 16.95) in the control group (t = 9.835, P <0.05), and all dimensions were lower than those in the control group (P <0.05). In WD patients Self-efficacy scores and quality of life scores and scores of all dimensions were positively correlated (P <0.05). Conclusion The general self-efficacy and quality of life of patients with WD are lower than that of healthy people. There is a positive correlation between self-efficacy and quality of life in WD patients. The better the general self-efficacy is, the better the quality of life is.
