Micro/nano chrome green pigments were prepared by the mechanical grinding-horizontal sand mill.Several important parameters of horizontal sand mill affecting the particle sizes of the pigments, including grinding media particle size,grinding time (times), speed (line speed), the grinding media filling rate and the amount of dispersant on pigment particle size, were studied through Orthogonal Design according to the mechanical disruption theory.Firstly, we studied useful power of horizontal sand mill based on plasticity dislocation theory and Maxwell velocity distribution theory and make the experiment plan L1645 with certain sand mill parameters.Analyzing influence of the various factors on pigment particle size by range analysis,the results showed speed (linear velocity)> grinding time (times)> filling rate of grinding medium> milling media particle size > the amount of dispersant,and experimental optimized parameters are:speed (line speed) of 3000 r /min, grinding time (times) of 240 min, grinding media filling rate is 88%, particle size of milling media is 0.4~0.6mm, the amount of dispersant is 5%.
