The study was carried out to fied the effect of y-irradiation on contents of volatile flavor compounds of Paeoniae Radix (Paenia albiflora Pallas var.trichocarpa Bunge).The volatile organic compounds of control,1,3,5 and 10 kGy irradiated samples were extracted by simultaneous steam distillation and extraction (SDE) method and analyzed by gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer.A total of compounds from non-irradiated and irradiated Paeoniae Radix at 1,3,5 and 10 kGy were 35,36,36,36 and 38,respectively.
