Alzheimers disease (AD) is the most prevalent neurodegenerative disease in aged people leading to progres-sive loss of memory and cognitive deficits. One of the major pathological features in AD brain is the presence of high density of senile plaques, and the main constituent of senile plaques is amyloid-β protein (Aβ).The neurotoxicity of Aβ has been reported widely, but the most effective neuronal protective measure against Aβ-induced impairment is still far uncertain.Hippocampal long-term potentiation (LTP) is a form of activity-dependent increase in synaptic efficacy, which has been widely used as a cellular model of learning and memory.
