Background and Aims: Increasing evidence suggests that commensal probiotic species regulate a number of host processes, including nutrition and immune responses that are relevant for both health and disease.We recently evaluated the probiotic and functional potential of nine Lactobacillus strains.Two strains, namely L.salivarius and L.plantarum,exhibited high resistance against low pH and bile and possessed antibacterial, antioxidative and cholesterol lowering properties, etc.In order to examine the immunomodulation function of the two probiotic strains, we investigated the immunostimulating property using various in vivo tests.
