The novel iron-based medium manganese alloy coatings were prepared on 18Cr2Ni4WA steel surface by laser cladding with a continuous wave 5 kW CO2 laser and powder simultaneous feeding system.Microstructure and phase constitution characteristics of the coatings were analyzed by SEM and XRD,and anti-impact fatigue performance were investigated contrastively with carburized layers of the steel by an impact fatigue wear tester.Six grades of impact work were selected in the experiments, and 6000 times of impact were finished for each grade of work. Results showed that microstructure of the laser cladded iron-based alloy coatings took on typical directional solidification characteristics, which was composed of primary dentritic austenite (γ) phase,a little of martensite (M) phase inter the austenite dentrites and dispersing finecarbides.
