Abstrsct:In the last decade in biology and medicine areas, the use of terahertz (THz) spectroscopy has greatly increased and the range of applications has become much broader. We present a brief overview of those biomedical applications on the effects of THz radiation. The region of the electromagnetic spectrum from 0.1 to 10 THz is a frontier area for research in biology and medicine. This area has recently begun to be filled by a variety of sources of high quality radiation with a wide range of new technologies related to it.Therefore Terahertz waves have a wide range of potential applications, especially in biology and medicine. In this paper, historical background and ways to generate and detect T-rays are reviewed, and early biological and medical applications are also discussed. We also elaborate the problems and the development of related techniques which THz faces in the biomedicine domain.
