Polyester fiber has been widely used as an acid-proof material due to its excellent physical property and low-cost price.In this paper,a high acid resistant polyester(AP)product which applies to lead-acid battery surface as a protective layer that would keep the electrode from the acid corrosion was developed.The modification of AP non-woven fabrics was supposed to be the lead-acid battery surface layer that is used to largely extend the battery service life.The AP fiber was made of two kinds of polyester which was high-viscosity polyester and conventional polyester.They were manufactured as skin-core structure.It was supposed to make a more stable structure which would also improve the medical stability in the acid environment.To investigate the acid corrosion performance,the product has been tested in different acid working conditions.Physical and mechanical properties of AP fiber were characterized.It is clearly observed that the new developed fiber had a better acid-proof property than the conventional one.AP products would be promising choices of the lead-acid battery protective layer.
