The current standard of care for patients presenting to the Emergency Department(ED) with ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) is emergent cardiac catheterization with subsequent angioplasty intervention as indicated.Research has shown successful angioplasty resulting in limited morbidity is time dependent. In the US an established metric of 90 minutes has been established as a benchmark for Emergency Departments to achieve in attaining cardiac reperfusion from presentation to the ED.
