By incorporating upconversion nanophosphors (UCNPs) into the azotolane-containing crosslinked liquid crystal polymer film (CLCP),the resulting composite film bent fast to the direction of irradiation along the alignment direction of mesogens upon exposure to continuous-wave (CW) 980 nm light,ascribed to the trans-cis photoisomerization of the azotolane units and the following alignment change in the CLCP film induced by the UV and visible upconversion luminescence emission of UCNPs.The bent film quickly reverted to the initial flat state when the irradiation of CW 980 nm light was removed,because the thermal effect of NIR light leads to the cis-trans back isomerization of the azotolane units.
