This study shows the effects of the idiomatic, cultural and social uprooting of the Chinese that emigrate to Latin America in their personality and emotional stability. Two cases of first generation Chinese women who develop adaptive and neurotic problems which tend to perpetuate in the following generation will be presented. The study is shown from a psychoanalytic perspective with special reference to the states of self.
