  Objective To show the improved diagnostic image quality of dual-energy myocardial scan mode compared with coronary CTA scan mode with Dual-Source CT.Methods We performed a retrospective analysis of 100 patients who underwent coronary artery evaluation with Dual-Source CT (2008G Siemens Somatom Definition) at our hospital between February 2009 and July 2009.They were investigated using dual-energy myocardial scan mode in 20 cases of patients and using coronary CTA scan mode in 80cases of patients.The heart rate of all patients were less than 70bpm.The raw data was transmitted to the appropriate workstation to accomplish MIP, VR, and Circulation.Examination reports were analyzed for the presence of image quality , artifacts, and radiation dose between two kinds of scan methods.Results There was no statistically significant difference of the number of examinations with the high-quality images between dual-energy myocardial and coronary CTA (p>0.05).The number of examinations with motion artifact was significantly higher with dual-energy myocardial than with coronary CTA (10% vs 6.25%; p < 0.05) ,especially when studing the right coronary artery.The number of examinations with the average radiation dose was significantly lower with dual-energy myocardial than that of with coronary CTA (46.23±18.51 vs 70.57±22.73;p =0.01).Conclusion Dual-energy myocardial scan mode can provide high-quality images of coronary CT,similar to that with coronary CTA, and it can reduce the radiation dose, and obtain more information such as assessing myocardium.
