Why is the ghost of the storm of May 1968 still hovering in contemporary French political discourse? In answering this question, Alain Badiou made a historic review of Béillessocracy in France during the last two hundred years, The event of the incumbent President-elect is placed in this context. The author revisits Plato and Gaudíne’s views on courage and urges people to re-examine the core point of the “Communist Manifesto” with this courage, that is, communist assumptions. It seems to Badiou that the hypothesis is repeated in part because of the need to redefine communism after the fall of the Soviet Union and neo-liberalism, but also from the latest claims of universal liberation.
