As the use of CALL grows worldwide,English Language Teaching in China starts to meet the challenge.However,there is still limited studies in the roles played by language teachers in computer assisted English language teaching/learning in China.This paper will try to rethink and redefine the roles of the teachers in computer assisted English education,reveal the unavoidance of the changes of English language teachers roles and put forward ways to educate and help teachers to realize these necessary changes.The teacher in CALL needs to act as a CALL observer,designer,implementer,evaluator or manager.The teacher should be trained to work online and "instructed" so they can achieve their pedagogical goals in a more effective,creative and innovative way when teaching in a virtual learning environment.Whats more important,the teacher should have the reflective and innovative attitude that prioritizes the learning process focused on the student.
