In simplistic clinical terms, the aim of in vivo imaging is to aid diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of a cancer patient; further, in vivo imaging modalities offer the ability to define structural or/and functional anatomy.Their performance may be quantified by parameters including accuracy and precision along with spatial and temporal resolution.A key term is targeting, ranging from identification of the extent of the tumour cells to monitoring tumour movement during radiotherapy.
