In China, university EFL teachers are currently facing challenges in their professional development.In this research 96 university English teachers from 20 Chinese universities and colleges were chosen as the subjects in order to fmd how their professional development can be facilitated from their own point of view.Questionnaire and interview were employed as the research instruments.Suggestions on Chinese EFL university teachers pre-service and in-service training have been put forward, such as optimizing courses and teaching methodologies in pre-service training, improving in-service teachers educational qualifications, professional titles and their current teaching and research context.
