Synopsis A Monte-Carlo simulation of MeV ion transmission through glass micro-capillaries had successfully reproduced experimental energy and angular distributions obtained for 71 MeV Xe19+ ions on the IRRSUD beam line of GANIL as well as for MeV protons at ETH facility.The transmitted beam is composed of two parts: a core beam, due to direct transmission through the capillary, and a diffuse halo around, experiencing a large energy loss.The present calculation shows that the halo part is due to elastic scattering by the capillary wall.
