In order to develop markers for genomic analysis and marker-assisted breeding, we are undertaking a survey of SNP diversity in peanut.Sequencing four cultivars, representing all four U.S.market types, generated an average of 41.7 million reads.Alignment of these sequences against a custom reference of the Tifrunner TSA and ESTs in GenBank produced a mean of 39,807 contigs per accession with an N50 of 741bp.From 3,027 to 5,736 SNPs distinguished pair-wise combinations of cultivars.
