Great progress has been endowed in synthetic approaches and potential application for carbon quantum dots (C-dots).Compared with conventional heavy-metal-based quantum dots (QDs),C-dots exhibit lower cytotoxicity and excellent biocompatibility,which push them to be a promising performer in a broad range of technologies,such as gene delivery,bioimaging,photocatalyst,energy conversion/storage,biological labeling and chemical sensor [1-3].
