There are increasing research work focused on improving magnetoelectric (ME) effect in composite multiferroic film, such as vertical nanostructure (1-3 configuration) with CoFe2O4 (ferromagnetic) nanopillars embedded in a BaTiO3 (ferroelectric) matrix. However, it is hard for 1-3 nanostructures to control the distribution ordering and expand its variety.A new structure: multilayered nanodot arrays (0-0 composite) were proposed to obtain great ME coupling effect, stacking, and order control simultaneously. In this study, a phase-field approach was used to simulate the switching of magnetization direction by application of extra electric field in CoFe2O4/BaTiO3 0-0 composite film. The simulation agrees well with the experiment result. And the effect of array size and dot shape were studied which give a deep understanding of strain-mediated ME effect and provide scientific guidance for future application.
