N-(2-mercaptopropionyl) glycine (Tiopronin,TPN),containing a thiol group, has been used as a hepatoprotectant clinically for years in China. In the clinical application, the current preparations have encountered two main problems: the instability and toxicity of TPN.In order to conquer the limitations of preparations on market,Tiopronin-conjugated gold nanoparticles (TPN@GNPs),with glutathione (GSH)-responsive drug release property, were prepared by one-pot synthesis method for the therapeutic application to the acute liver injury in mice.
