Background: Ultra-minimum incision personalized intratumoral chemoimmunotherapy (UMIPIC) is a new option for cancer treatment integrating local chemotherapeutic effect with systematic antitumor immunity by intratumoral drug delivery, which is comprised of three components, an oxidant, a cytotoxic drug (cytosine arabinoside;Ara-C) and a hapten.Having injected the composed agents, the autologous tumor-associated antigens released from dead tumor cells killed by coagulation (or Ara-C) then trigger immune response as self-vaccination.Meanwhile, a small hapten molecule binds to these antigens and other large carriers boost the systemic hormonal and cellular immunity, leading to suppression and eradication of the tumor including its metastatic foci.
