The king cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) is the largest venomous snake in the world and one of the most recognizable.Although relatively low on the list of snakes causing human envenomations, its venom is extremely potent and is known to contain a wide diversity of toxins. To examine this diversity, and as part of the king cobra genome project,we created a venom grand transcriptome utilizing Illumina next generation sequencing.
