Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) / carbon fiber (CF) / nano-hydroxyapatite (n-HA) composite hydrogel was prepared as scaffold of artificial cornea via sol-gel and freeze/thaw cycles.In order to evaluate the properties of materials, the moisture content, the mechanical property, Ca2+ content change (ICP), energy spectrum analysis, TG-DTA, XRD, FTIR would be taken.The results indicate that tensile strength of the materials is 1.06MPa, break-elongation is 366.02% and the moisture content is 70.8% when carbon fiber content is 60% in the materials.The ICP test shows that calcium deposition can be effectively reduced with the increase of the amount of carbon fiber, and beneficial to reduce the formation of the proliferation membrane after implantation.And the SEM, TG-DTA and XRD show that the PVA/CF/n-HA composite hydrogel is porosity and mutual coherence with excellent chemical and thermal stability.The FTIR shows that the addition of CF does not affect the chemical composition and the crystal structure of the composites hydrogel.
