Introduction Hypovitaminosis D can result in low bonemass, but not all patients with hypovitaminosis D develop secondary hyperparathyroidism. What this means for bonemetabolism and bone mineral density remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of hypovi-taminosis D on bone turnover and the calcium metabolismand bone mineral density of patients with a blunted PTHresponse in comparison to patients with hypovitaminosis Dand secondary hyperparathyroidism.
