In the last decade,considerable advances have been made in the development of novel gelling systems for local delivery of therapeutics,capturing the interests of both academic communities and pharmaceutical industries.A variety of novel gelling systems were elaborately designed to overcome sorts of obstacles during their applications,meeting the critical requirements of locally effective treatment and reduced side effects.This presentation will report recent developments and some smart designs on novel gelling systems for local drug delivery.Several corresponding design principles for gelling systems would be proposed according to recent research progress,which may provide some insights for the formulation development and clinical applications of gelling systems.
