Background Expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (e-PTFE) was invented by W.L.Gore in the late 1960s.It has been becoming a popular material in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.Use of e-PTFE sheet in the temporal region was reported by some authors and achieved good results.Endoscopic technique is characterized by small incision, slight injury and less complications which is applied in many field. With the assistance of endoscope, temporal augmentation with e-PTFE is performed under direct sight, and complications can be reduced.objective to investigate endoscope-assisted temporal augmentation with e-PTFE.Method 16 patients with concave temporal region underwent temporal augmentation with e-PTFE under the assistance of endoscope, the implants were inserted in the plane overlying the deep temporal fascia. Results most of patients were satisfied with the result, one patients had mild temporal area asymmetry, which did not need revised, One patient had paralysis of the temporal branch of the facial nerve and recovered 3 months after surgery.there was no infection, no foreign body reaction, no implant rejection or extrusion, no hematoma or seroma, no curling edge of implant.conclusion Endoscope is characterized with small incision, slight tissue injury, under direct vision, less complications.it is helpful in the reconstruction of concave temporal region with e-PTFE.
