Rationale: Polycystin-2 (TRPP2) as a Ca2+ permeable nonselective cationic channel executes crucial physiological function in live cells. The stromal interaction molecule 1 (STIM1) is an important Ca2+ sensor in store-operated Ca2+ entry (SOCE).Both TRPP2 and STIM1 express in the membrane of endoplasmic reticulum involving Ca2+ signal in live cells. Objective: We tested the hypothesis that TRPP2 interacts with STIM1 to regulate SOCE and investigated the functional role of the interaction in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs).
