Levee breaches occur at a great number of places in Japan mainly due to overflows of huge floods.To increase the resistance of levees to overflow erosion, we proposed a new type of levee in which concrete panels connected to geo-grid layers reinforcing the sand cover the slopes and crest of the levee.Various laboratory tests were conducted to evaluate the resistance of this method to overflow erosion.
