A significant recent advance in high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)has been the development of fused-core technology.Fused-core particles have been increasingly used for highly efficient separation with fast flow rate and relatively low back pressure. This report describes a novel fused-core phase. These fused-core particles surface is modified with a unique hybrid organic/inorganic polymer which provide resistance to high pH attack, and then bonded with pentafluorophenyl propyl(PFP)which provide vastly different selectivity and improve polar compound retention compared with conventional reversed-phase.Based on the aromatic structure of anthocyanin and PH stability, this special fused-core column was used to inspected the separation of ten common anthocyanins. The anthocyanin application experiments show that, the special fused-core column was suitable for baseline separation of ten anthocyanins under appropriate chromatographic conditions.Compared with the separation situation of the same type of all-porous C18 column and all-porous phenyl column with the same conditions, the special fused-core columns resolution is larger, the selectivity is better than others on the aromatic ring compound separation. And this rapid analysis is achieved on the ordinary liquid chromatography instrument,so an effective new method for the determination of ten anthocyanins by HPLC was established.
