Vast majority of population, especially in rural India, does not have access to justice.Mostly, for a basic understanding, the lack of access to justice here is synonymous with lack of access to basic needs for human survival, for example, food, health, shelter, basic education, and employment. The Constitution of India, the most fundamental law of the land, promises equal access to justice and a life of dignity to all human beings who dwell on Indian soil. These promises mostly exist in statutes and law books. They often appear fictitious in real life scenario.Deeper questions of injustices emerge when a dialogue is initiated with communities and the communities are encouraged and supported to effectively participate in addressing these questions. The proposed paper will discuss various aspects of one such initiative of a law schools engagement with rural communities in India. This initiative is an experiment with methods of Clinical Legal Education (CLE) and it has proved to be effective and promising in addressing the larger questions of injustice and in developing CLE.
