CHARACTERISTICS OF HEMP SEED OIL AND ITS RESEARCH ADVANCES

  Hemp seed is comprised of approximately 25~35% oil,20~25% protein and 20~30% carbohydrates,along with an array of micronutrients.Hemp seed oil is a valuable nutritional vegetable oil source because of about 90% unsaturated fatty acid,as well as a high content of Essential Fatty Acids up to 80%.An considerable ideal ratio between ω-6 and o-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids presents about 3 ∶ 1 in this oil,and besides the existence of 7-1inolenic and a series of tocopherols and plant stemls.The research results show that hemp seed oil has many significant healthy functions such as reducing plasma cholesterol,anti-oxidation and scavenging radicals,besides it is edible safely,so it can be utilized as a promising functional edible oil.
