Photo galvanic effect was studied in photogalvanic cells containing Rose Bengal dye as photo sensitizer and Ascorbic Acid, Potassium Iodide, Glycerol as reductant.The photo potentials and photocurrent garneted, conversion efficiency, Power of the cell and cell performance of the photogalvanic cells were determined.The effects of different parameters on electrical out put of the cell were observed.A mechanism has also been proposed for the generation of the photocurrent in photogalvanic cell.In 1940 E.Rabinowitch built first photogalvanic cells [4].In photogalvanic cell a dye thionine used which absorbed light and transfer the energy to ferrous ions medium.Ferric ions and dihydro thionine were the output from this reaction [5].Many reviews have appeared as well as a series of theoretical papers by Albery and Archer [6-8] on the configuration and ultimate efficiency of photogalvanic cells.The estimate power conversion efficiency of such cell could be high as 18%.
