Background: Buyang Huanwu Decoction (BHD) is a commonly used prescription of traditional Chinese Medicine in preventing and treating ischemic cardiovascular and cerebral vascular diseases.Previous studies using rats showed that the alkaloids and glycosides extracted from BHD inhibited the intimal hyperplasia after aortic intimal injury by balloon catheter and the proliferation of the vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC).
