The carbon dots(CDs),a new member of carbon nanomaterials, have gained tremendous attention in application for bioimaging,1 drug delivery, photocatalysis, sensing of metal cations and biological molecules,2 and light-emitting devices, owing to their remarkable advances in high resistance to photobleaching, low toxicity, high sensitivity, good biocompatibility, and robust chemical inertness. In this work,we have developed a green, simple, and low-cost hydrothermal method using human hair as the precursor to fabricate sulfur-doped and nitrogen-rich carbon dots.
