Magnolia officinalis Rehd.et Wils.(Magnoliaceae) is a deciduous tree,distrituted in Yangtze River Basin and southern China.The stem and root bark of M.officinalis(Chinese name:Houpo) has been used as a traditional medicine for the treatment of gastrointestinal complaints,asthmatic cough,thrombotic stroke,anxiety,and nervous disturbance.
